Local/Federated EGA

The Local / Federated EGA (European Genome-phenome Archive) is a distributed solution for sharing and exchange of human -omics data across national borders. Local EGA collects metadata of -omics data collections stored in national or regional archives and make them available for search through the main EGA portal.

Enhancing the implementation of the Breeding API standard in ELIXIR and semantifying it

As an emerging standard, within the ELIXIR Plant science community, the Plant Breeding API (BrAPI, https://brapi.org) plays a central role in facilitating the exchange of data between plant datasets hosted in different ELIXIR Nodes. The objectives of the project was to integrate Italian and Portuguese ELIXIR Nodes in the development of BrAPI, and facilitate BrAPI's global adoption.

Annotation of macromolecular structure complexes in the PDB archive

The goal of the collaborative project between ELIXIR Czech Republic and EMBL-EBI was to build local capacity for annotation of PDBe data in the Masaryk University (part of ELIXIR Czech Republic). During six months (from July 2016 to February 2017), five graduate students from the Masaryk University visited EMBL-EBI and received training in annotation of PDBe data. After the initial training, the researchers contributed to the standardisation of names for macromolecular complexes in PDBe.

Web application for fast 3D structure visualisation with residue conservation

The collaboration between EMBL-EBI and ELIXIR Czech Republic enabled the development and release of a reusable, web based tool for linking sequence conservation information with biomolecular structural data.

As part of the project, the team at the ELIXIR Czech Republic (Institute of Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry of the Czech Academy of Sciences, IOCB) pooled their expertise in linking sequence data with structure stability, interactions and functions with EMBL-EBI’s experience in providing sequence similarity search (HMMER service).
