The Spanish National Bioinformatics Institute (‘Instituto Nacional de Bioinformática’ in Spanish, INB) is composed of 19 computational biology groups that comprise a virtual institute. It started operating in 2003 and its more than 40 employees are funded by the National Health Institute Carlos III (ISCIII).

ELIXIR Slovenia (ELIXIR-SI) is a consortium of 12 partners coordinated by University of Ljubljana (UL) (Faculty of Medicine). ELIXIR-SI members are Slovenian research organizations who signed the National Node Consortium Agreement and are as follows:

ELIXIR Portugal is a consortium of eighteen Portuguese research institutions which are part of the national biological information network, BioData.pt. Like ELIXIR itself, the Portuguese Node is organised as a decentralised network of specialised centres, under a common hardware and software infrastructure, and with shared training and industry/entrepreneurship programmes.

ELIXIR Norway is coordinated by the University of Bergen and includes activities at the University of Oslo, UiT The Arctic University of Norway in Tromsø, NTNU - Norwegian University of Science and Technology in Trondheim, and the Norwegian University of Life Sciences at Ås.

Israel is home to very active and highly collaborative bioinformatics, computational biology and systems biology communities, and therefore constitutes a hub of excellent science.

The Italian Node is organized as a Joint Research Unit (JRU), coordinated by the National Research Council (CNR), and currently includes 28 partners, among which are several universities, research institutes and public Cloud and High Performance Computing (HPC) providers.

Thee French scientific community has set up a national infrastructure of services in bioinformatics called Institut Français de Bioinformatique (IFB). IFB/ELIXIR-FR is on the roadmap of the French Ministry of Research as the reference institute of bioinformatics and as the French ELIXIR Node.

The ELIXIR Node in Finland is hosted at CSC - IT Center for Science. Node provides cloud and storage resource and training for life sciences, with integrated computational access to very large biological data resources.
