ELIXIR is pleased to announce the appointment of Rachel Drysdale and Juan Arenas Márquez as ELIXIR Data Platform Coordinator and ELIXIR-EXCELERATE Project Manager.
As ELIXIR Data Platform Coordinator, Rachel Drysdale will work closely with the Data Platform leadership team, coordinating the activities of the Platform and the implementation of the process of identifying ELIXIR Core Data Resources.
Rachel Drysdale joins ELIXIR from PLOS where she worked as Manager, Taxonomy Systems and Analysis, and before that as Consulting Editor for PLOS ONE. Prior to that, Rachel led the data curation group of FlyBase at the Department of Genetics, University of Cambridge. Rachel holds a PhD in Neurogenetics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, USA.
Juan Arenas Márquez will take over the management of the ELIXIR-EXCELERATE project, working in close collaboration with the Work Package leaders of the ELIXIR-EXCELERATE grant.
Juan comes to ELIXIR with over 15 years of experience in project management. Before joining ELIXIR, Juan worked as Portfolio Manager & Technology Officer at the University of Sheffield, UK. He had developed most of his career in Accenture/Coritel inMálaga, Spain as Project Manager, leading ICT projects for global companies in a variety of sectors and technologies. Originally from Spain, Juan holds a degree in Computer Science as well as professional certifications in project management (Project Management Professional and Certified Scrum Master).
