Hub updates

We have published a news release today detailing the positive feedback from a long-term survey about ELIXIR's Industry events, the 'Innovation and SME Forums', and detailing the positive collaborations between industry and ELIXIR nodes that have been developed as a result of these events.

The full programme for the next Innovation and SME forum "Distributed data analysis - the (health) data train" is now available online. Taking place in Utrecht, Netherlands on 10 - 11 October 2019, registration is still open. Please share with colleagues and any SMEs interested in health data.

The deadline for applications for the hub position ELIXIR Human Data Scientific Officer is next Wednesday - the 18 September. Please circulate among your colleagues.

If you're interested in keeping up to date with our activities around impact at ELIXIR please sign up to the new dedicated ELIXIR Impact mailing list.

The Society of Research Software Engineering (RSE) has officially opened to members, for research software engineers who are interested in becoming a member of a professional body.

Updates from Platforms

The training platform have released a short 5-10 minute survey that aims to identify the current gaps in life science and bioinformatics training in Europe. Please share widely among your colleagues and students.

Malvika Sharan and Berenice Batut (deputy training coordinators of ELIXIR Germany), along with Yo Yehudi (working in a partner organisation of ELIXIR UK) have been invited by Mozilla Open Leadership to design and lead a mentoring program in Europe. This program will aim to foster ambassadors of Open Science practices to promote bioinformatics training and education in bioinformatics. Their program is being officially supported by de.NBI, and ELIXIR training platform, and will be open to all the members of ELIXIR states.

The Data and Interoperability Platforms are preparing a response to two FAIRsFAIR surveys:
i) FAIR Policy and Practice
ii) Semantics and Solutions

If you would like to add your feedback from the ELIXIR Technical Platform standpoints, please comment on these internal copies of these docs: ELIXIR-internal FAIRsFAIR Policy & Practice Survey and ELIXIR-internal FAIRsFAIR Semantics & Solution Survey.

The Hub Coordinators will review the documents before we submit the responses by the EC deadline on 20th September 2019. So the deadline for comments is the 15th September 2019. All comments are welcome. Please contact Sira or Rachel for more information.
