Making European performance and impact assessment frameworks for research infrastructures glocal
An ELIXIR-PT | ELIXIR-CONVERGE paper
Sustainability of research infrastructures is a big challenge for funders, stakeholders and operators, and the development and adoption of adequate management tools is a major concern. BioData.pt is the Portuguese Infrastructure of Biological data and the Portuguese node of the European Strategy Forum on Research Infrastructures "Landmark" ELIXIR. Performance and impact indicators were collected and analysed under the light of international guidelines for assessing the performance and impact of European research infrastructures produced by ESFRI, OECD and the EU-funded RI-PATHS project. This article showed that these frameworks can be adopted by national RI, and can be powerful tools in supporting the management of RIs.

IgIDivA: immunoglobulin intraclonal diversification analysis
An ELIXIR supported research
Intraclonal diversification (ID) within the immunoglobulin (IG) genes expressed by B cell clones arises due to ongoing somatic hypermutation (SHM) in a context of continuous interactions with antigens. The authors present the immunoglobulin intraclonal diversification analysis (IgIDivA) tool, a novel methodology for the qualitative and quantitative analysis of the ID process from high-throughput sequencing data. IgIDivA identifies and characterizes SHMs that occur within the variable domain of the rearranged IG genes and studies in detail the connections between identified SHMs, establishing mutational pathways. IgIDivA also provides detailed visualizations of ID through the generation of purpose-built graph networks.
