The ELIXIR website has a new section, presenting the ELIXIR Staff Exchange programme. It explains the different grants available to ELIXIR Node staff and presents all past and ongoing Staff Exchange projects.

An interview with ELIXIR's Head of External Relations, Andy Smith, and ELIXIR's Industry Officer, Katharina Lauer, has been published in the InVivo magazine. Their interview introduces ELIXIR in the context of coordinating computational biology efforts across Europe, with a particular focus on industry and pharmaceutical innovations.

Updates from Platforms

ELIXIR was selected and interviewed as one of the 12 case studies by the OECD Global Science Forum Expert Group on Digital Skills for Data Intensive Science. At the OECD GSF Workshop that took place in Cologne, Germany, 28-29 October, ELIXIR presented its approach to tackle the digital skills gap in the session about Policy Requirements".

ELIXIR Italy is hosting the Disorder in Disorders: Pathogenic mechanisms of Intrinsically Disordered Proteins in January 27 - 31 in Brixen, Italy. This course is organised in collaboration with the MSCA-RISE IDPfun consortium and includes a half-day workshop on ELIXIR Interoperability Services and support for the IDP Community. Limited fellowships are available, application deadlines are 15 November 2019 (early bird) and 15 January 2020.

Updates from Communities

The Intrinsically Disordered Proteins (IDP) Community will hold its 2019 workshop in Padua on 25-26 November. The workshop will bring together IDP database developers, stakeholders, and ELIXIR Platforms and Communities to discuss how to link together IDP databases and promote their visibility. Limited places are open for registration.

EMBL-EBI have released their 2018 Annual Report, detailing their achievements for the year (including some from ELIXIR!) and information on how their data resources are being used.
