Towards FAIRification of sensitive and fragmented rare disease patient data

A European Joint Programme on Rare Diseases paper

To support the 24 European Reference Networks (ERNs) in clinical decision making and to harmonise FAIRification, a FAIRification steward team worked with researchers from the European Joint Programme on Rare Diseases. We show that a dedicated team of FAIR data stewards improves the FAIRness of data in a large organisation with multiple stakeholders, and multi-levelled training activities are required to accommodate the diverse needs of the ERNs.

3D-Beacons: Decreasing the sequence/structure gap with federated protein structure data resources

A BioHackathon paper

To make data from a large array of model providers more easily accessible to the broader scientific community, we established 3D-Beacons, a collaborative initiative to create a federated network with unified data access mechanisms. The 3D-Beacons Network allows researchers to collate coordinate files and metadata for experimentally determined and theoretical protein models from state-of-the-art and specialist model providers and also from the Protein Data Bank.
