Last chance for submitting a Hackathon topic to the ELIXIR BioHackathon. ELIXIR Platforms, Communities and Use Cases are expected to propose hacking projects for this event south of Paris on November 12-16 2018. Please fill in the online application form.

Updates from Platforms

 

The ELIXIR Interoperability Platform (EIP) is currently focused on building a portfolio of interoperability services. As part of this effort, we would like to reach out to the Use Case/Community networks and ask which services are currently being used. Please complete a short online survey. We need the responses as soon as possible and no later than Friday, 8 June 2018. For more information, please contact Yvonne Kallberg (yvonne.kallberg@nbis.se)

The call for the Recommended Interoperability Resource (RIR) Selection will be open this Friday 1st June 2018. All ELIXIR Resources providing FAIR service are eligible to apply. The submission period will run until 16 June 2018. Submission process webinar will be held on 11 June 2018 at 15:00 UK time. Registration open for the next ELIXIR Training: Plant Genome Assembly and Annotation 24-28, September 2018 at Montpellier, France.

At the CarpentryCon in Dublin this week, ELIXIR will have a booth, two posters, two flash talks and a workshop. The Flash talks will present (i) ELIXIR training and Carpentries and (ii) lesson development for 4 recommendations for open source research software (4OSS). The workshop will kick-off the work on the 4OSS lesson.

Register for Data Management and Computational Workflows course that will take place on 25 June in Amsterdam. This course is one of the three courses that has been selected as use cases in the Workshop as a Service Implementation Study led by Eija Korpelainen from ELIXIR Finland. Registration is free, the capacity is limited to ca. 20 places. First come, first served. It is a course from the regular SURFsara portfolio with an additional focus on life sciences examples.


The ELIXIR Software development best practices group and ELIXIR Training Platform is organising a hackathon in Utrecht on 1-3 August 2018 to develop new Carpentries lesson teaching practices presented in "Four simple recommendations" F1000 paper. If you want to attend the hackathon, let the organisers know by filling in the online form.

BiG Talks! - Bioinformatics and Genomics Seminar Series: ELIXIR Sweded introduces a new set of Seminar series targeting Bioinformatics and Genomics topics. You can watch the seminars via the SciLifeLab YouTube channel. The first seminar Genome sequencing of 15,000 healthy elderly Australians: implications for clinical genetics, by Paul Lacaze, Head of the Public Health Genomics Program, Monash University, Melbourne Australia takes place on 11 June at 10.30 in Uppsala and online.
