Ready-to-use public infrastructure for global SARS-CoV-2 monitoring

A Nature Biotechnology paper from Galaxy Europe
The COVID-19 pandemic is the first health crisis characterized by large amounts of genomic data. Computational infrastructure can be a bottleneck for data analysis, amplifying global inequalities in ability to track SARS-CoV-2 evolution [...] Here, we present the COVID-19 effort by the Galaxy Project, which pools free worldwide public computational infrastructure, making the analysis of deep sequencing data accessible to anyone while also providing an analytical framework for global pathogen genomic surveillance based on raw sequencing-read data.

The Progenetix oncogenomic resource in 2021

An ELIXIR Beacon Implementation Study supported paper
In cancer, copy number aberrations (CNAs) represent a type of nearly ubiquitous and frequently extensive structural genome variations. The Progenetix project, initiated in 2001, curates individual cancer CNA profiles and associated metadata from published oncogenomic studies and data repositories with the aim to empower integrative analyses spanning all different cancer biologies. For the Progenetix resource, continuous data integration, curation and maintenance have resulted in the most comprehensive representation of cancer genome CNA profiling data with 138,663 (including 115,357 tumor) copy number variation (CNV) profiles.
