Hub updates

ELIXIR hosted the BioMedBridges final symposium: Open bridges for life science data. Slides will be available soon, photos are already online.

CORBEL will extend the work started by BioMedBridges. The kick-off meeting took place right atfer the BioMedBridges symposium. More information on the new project website: www.corbel-project.eu

ELIXIR was also at the European Data Forum in Luxembourg with an exhibition booth and talk by Mark Forster, Chair of the ELIXIR Industry Advisory Committee.

Updates from Nodes

Orphanet, a reference portal for rare diseases and orphan drugs is now part of ELIXIR France (Institut Franu00e7ais de Bioinformatique, IFB).

Prof. Ron Appel, HoN ELIXIR-Switzerland and Dr Rolf Apweiler, Joint HoN EMBL-EBI were invited to the Vatican last week to participate in a workshop on "Big Data and Science" organized by the Pontifical Academy of Sciences. This photo shows the two HoNs behind St. Peter's Basilica in the Vatican City. A reminder that the ELIXIR-UK has launched a survey on UK Community Engagement to help develop future strategy. All researchers who make use of international data resources in the life sciences are invited to take part. EMBL-EBI invites life science researchers to complete an annual survey about how they use EMBL-EBI's biological databases, tools, and other resources. Please visit the link above and complete the survey if you have not done so already.

Summary report from the second ELIXIR Curation & Usability Hackathon, held on 4-6 November 2015 in Brno, Czech Republic, is now available.

Use case updates

The ERA-Net for Research Programmes on Rare Diseases 8th Call for Proposals will open on 7 December 2015, which may be of interest to ELIXIR partners involved in the Rare Diseases Use Case. The E-Rare call website also lists ELIXIR as an infrastructure that applicants should consider using.

The ELIXIR Hub is seeking an ELIXIR Human Data Coordinator and ELIXIR Technical Project Officer (Service Management and Quality Assurance). The closing date for applications for both posts is 3 January 2016. More information can be found via the ELIXIR website.
