Hub updates

An update to the ELIXIR Handbook of Operations is now available on the intranet. This comprehensive document sets out the various guides, policies and operational procedures within ELIXIR.
ELIXIR All Hands 2017 programme published. A reminder that if you haven't already signed up to the ELIXIR All Hands event, then please complete the registration.

Registration now open for the Strategic workshop "The future of proteomics in ELIXIR" in Tu00fcbingen on 1st-2nd of March.

2nd ENVRIplus call for proposals for multi-disciplinary access to Environmental Research Infrastructures is now open. It offers free-of-charge, hands-on access to the following European research facilities involved in cross-cutting areas covering the atmospheric, biosphere, marine, and solid earth domain.

Swiss Institute of Bioinformatics organises its biennal scientific symposium, the 13th Basel Computational Biology Conference ([BC]2), 12-15 September 2017. [BC]2 unites scientists working in bioinformatics, computational biology, biology, medicine, systems biology and others. More: www.bc2.ch/2017.

2017 Biocuration career award goes to Dr Marc Feuermann of SIB's Swiss-Prot group. The award is a recognition of his sustained contributions to the field, including the sequence and curation of S. cerevisiae genome, his contributions to the PAINT (Phylogenetic Annotation and INference Tool) project for the Gene Ontology (GO) and his work on UniProtKB/Swiss-Prot.

Any comments are welcome! EMBL-EBI is organising training course "Bioinformatics of discovery" on 16-17 March 2017. More information on EBI's Training portal.

SIB (ELIXIR Switzerland) is organising two training courses: "Intermediate stats: data analysis in practice" on 27-28 February in Lausanne, and "Inside protein databases: bridging sequences and knowledge" on 9 March in Geneva.

Updates from Use Cases

The recording from the webinar presented by Dylan Spalding (EMBL-EBI) last week on the outcomes from the joint feasibility project between ELIXIR and OncoTrack, is now available via the ELIXIR website.

The ELIXIR Hub is seeking a Technical Coordinator: ELIXIR Human Genomics and Translational Data Services and an ELIXIR Technical Project Manager to join the team at Hinxton.

INESC-ID (ELIXIR Portugal) has a number of PhD/post research opportunities available working on the PRECISE project - Accelerating progress toward the new era of precision medicine.
