New report shows open data is at the heart of innovation
We have released our latest report investigating the crucial role that open data has in driving innovation in the life sciences. Seventy-six percent of companies surveyed state that their product or service would not exist without data on open repositories.
This report, authored by ELIXIR Industry Officer Dr Katharina Lauer and Professor Hannes Rothe at the Freie Universitt Berlin, is an up-to-date quantification on the benefit of open data to industry and innovation.

In silico saturation mutagenesis of cancer genes
An ELIXIR Spain Nature paper
Despite the existence of good catalogues of cancer genes, identifying the specific mutations of those genes that drive tumorigenesis across tumour types is still a largely unsolved problem. [...] Using these models, we outline the blueprints of potential driver mutations in cancer genes, and demonstrate the role of mutation probability in shaping the landscape of observed driver mutations.

An ELIXIR Germany and ELIXIR Belgium paper
The European Nucleotide Archive (ENA) is the European recommended open repository for genetic sequences. In this work, we present a tool for submitting raw sequencing reads of SARS-CoV-2 to ENA.
