Updates from Platforms

ELIXIR and The Carpentries initiative (Software Carpentry and Data Carpentry), have extended their collaboration in organising and delivering training in ELIXIR Nodes. The Carpentries will organise close to 20 Software and Data Carpentry training workshops across ELIXIR Nodes, and two Instructor Training workshops to train a number of specialised instructors.

ELIXIR Training has contributed to the CODATA-RDA Research Data Science Summer school in Trieste (6-17 Aug 2018) by providing two instructors (Paula Andrea Martinez from ELIXIR Belgium and Marko Vidak from ELIXIR Slovenia). Furthermore, from 20-24 Aug 2018 Fotis Psomopoulos from ELIXIR Greece is organizing the flanking Advanced Bioinformatics workshop about Machine Learning applications (pdf). Both these activities are part of the ELIXIR Implementation Study on Learning Paths.

The Training Platform is organising a workshop Implementation of DMPs and Data Stewardship in practice at ECCB 2018 in Athens on Tuesday 11 September at 17:30-19:00. This is organized by ELIXIR Luxembourg, ELIXIR SIovenia and ELIXIR Netherlands, and is part of the ELIXIR Implementations Study about Data stewardship in ELIXIR.

Updates from Nodes

ELIXIR Finland organizes two ELIXIR-EXCELERATE courses: Single cell RNA-seq data analysis with Chipster (19 September) and Single cell RNA-seq data analysis using R and command line tools (21 September). You can also attend an international single cell symposium on 20 September 2018 in Helsinki too!
Registration for the EMBO Practical Course on Phenotyping neurological syndromes on 4-10 October in Luxembourg, supported by ELIXIR Luxembourg will close today.
 
Registrations are open to life scientists who want to learn Computing skills for reproducible research: Software Carpentry, on 24-25 October in Ghent, Belgium.
 

Registrations are open for the SIB course on NGS - Quality control, alignment, visualization, in Bern (Switzerland), on 2-3 October 2018.

The SIB Text Mining group in Geneva (part of ELIXIR Switzerland) is looking for three associate researchers.

The Swedish ELIXIR Node is hiring two bioinformatics experts stationed at Lund University.

Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC, part of ELIXIR Spain) is looking for an INB/ELIXIR-ES Training and Support Officer (RE1). The candidate will contribute to revamp the existing ELIXIR-ES training portfolio and to strengthen the coordination of the Node.

The Galaxy team at the University of Freiburg (part of ELIXIR Germany) is looking for a full time JavaScript developer to support the development of the Galaxy Europe instance.
