ELIXIR Implementation Studies replace Pilot Actions as short-term technical activities funded by the Hub. This Memo explains how it will work in practice.

ELIXIR Human Data Coordinator Ilkka Lappalainen takes up a new position at ELIXIR Finland. We wish Ilkka all the very best! ELIXIR has started a new collaboration with Pistoia Alliance to map out the links and interconnections among life science organisations, projects and alliances.

The European Commission is organising an Information and Networking day to present the e-Infrastructure part of the H2020 Research Infrastructures Work Programme 2016-2017. 30 November 2015, Brussels, Belgium. Registration is open.

Updates from Nodes

The Tryggve project, Nordic platform for collaboration on sensitive data, funded by ELIXIR Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden and NeIC, published an article on the recent developments in the EU legal environment concerning data privacy. Read more in the project's October Newsletter. ELIXIR Spain (National Institute of Bioinformatics), Intel and Atos, are organising a conference Bioinformatics as a Driver of Innovation on 12 November in Madrid, to explore new ways of collaboration between industry, healthcare and research.

Platform updates

Further details are now available for the Technical Hackathon 2: EDAM development heuristics taking place on 2-4 December in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Register your interest here. The ELIXIR Interoperability platform invites representatives from ELIXIR Nodes to complete a survey by the Gene Ontology (GO) project. The results will help GO to provide a better service to its users.
