Overlap of vitamin A and vitamin D target genes with CAKUT-related processes

An EJP-RD paper

Congenital Anomalies of the Kidney and Urinary Tract (CAKUT) are a group of abnormalities affecting the kidneys and their outflow tracts. Vitamins are among the environmental factors that are considered for CAKUT aetiology. In this study, the authors aimed to investigate whether vitamin A or vitamin D could have a role in CAKUT aetiology. The authors observed that vitamin A target genes significantly overlap with multiple CAKUT-related gene sets, including CAKUT causal and differentially expressed genes, and genes involved in renal system development. Overall, these results indicate that an excess or deficiency of vitamin A might be relevant to a broad range of urogenital abnormalities.

The European Nucleotide Archive (ENA), maintained at the European Molecular Biology Laboratory's European Bioinformatics Institute (EMBL-EBI) provides freely accessible services, both for deposition of, and access to, open nucleotide sequencing data. Open scientific data are of paramount importance to the scientific community and contribute daily to the acceleration of scientific advance. In this article, the authors outline the major updates to ENAs services and infrastructure that have been delivered over 2021.

EOSC Symposium Call for Talks

Deadline: Friday 23 September 2022, 17:00 CEST

The EOSC Symposium is the main EOSC annual event and takes place in Prague, Czech Republic, on 14-17 November 2022. During the Symposium, there will be an opportunity to share your work or ideas with the EOSC Community:

Call for talks: Submit a talk (the talk should not exceed 7 minutes)
Call for sessions: Submit ideas for a side session (max 90 minutes) or an evening session (up to 3 hours)

The applications will be evaluated by the Programme Committee and the applicants will be notified on the week of 3 October 2022.
