HealthyCloud project launch

HealthyCloud (health research and innovation cloud) is a 30-month, 3million project that was launched on 9 March. The ultimate goal is to propose an ecosystem that builds and reinforces the trust of patients and citizens in the use of their health data for research, and focuses on Cancer and Atrial Fibrillations as case studies for this aim.

Submit an abstract for the next ELIXIR Innovation and SME event

Building the learning ecosystem of health: from data tracking to preventive medicine

ELIXIR is working in collaboration with the Swiss Institute of Bioinformatics to host the next Innovation and SME Forum alongside the [BC]2 conference. We're looking for talks to focus on:

  • Health data collection technologies (hardware and software) focusing on healthy citizens and/or patients in the post-treatment phase
  • Data management
  • Research or data integration and analysis
  • Converting learnings into healthcare guidelines/policies.

Data management of sensitive human proteomics data: current practices, recommendations and perspectives for the future

Today it is the norm that all relevant proteomics data that support the conclusions in scientific publications are made available in public proteomics data repositories. However, given the increase in the number of clinical proteomics studies, an important emerging topic is the management and dissemination of clinical, and thus potentially sensitive, human proteomics data. The eTRANSAFE Project on Translational Safety Assessment through Integrative Knowledge Management: Achievements and Perspectives

eTRANSAFE is a research project funded within the Innovative Medicines Initiative (IMI), which aims at developing integrated databases and computational tools (the eTRANSAFE ToxHub) that support the translational safety assessment of new drugs by using legacy data provided by the pharmaceutical companies that participate in the project.

New FAIR Data Stewardship training project

ELIXIR-UK have successfully secured funding for a new data steward training project as part of the UKRI Innovation Scholars: Data Science Training in Health and Bioscience call. ELIXIR-UK training coordinator Krzysztof Poterlowicz from the University of Bradford leads, with ELIXIR-UKs data management lead Robert Andrews from Cardiff University as co-lead.

ELIXIR Spain's teams at GRIB (IMIM-UPF) and BSC are partners of the eTRANSAFE project and co-authors of the paper that was released this week, and featured in our Recommended Reads for this week.

Hugely successful workshop on biomedical research infrastructures in Spain

Held last week, the "Jornada informativa sobre las Infraestructuras de Investigacin en Ciencias Biomdicas" attracted around 300 participants. The event was featured in a news release from ISCII.

The ELIXIR session was led by Salvador Capella who highlighted the national roadmap, services portfolio and CONVERGE. Arcadi Navarro and Jordi Rambla highlighted the EGA and Laura Furlong presented DisGeNET as an ELIXIR RIR.
