A new Community for ELIXIR

ELIXIR has launched a new Food and Nutrition Community that aims to tackle the data challenges, implement FAIR data standards and develop new tools for this field of research.

Would you like to help co-lead this new Community?

We're looking for two co-leads to join Jildau Bouwman (ELIXIR-NL) to lead this Community. The Community is opening a self-nomination system: candidates should submit a short statement of their background and what they believe they will bring to the role.

Pathway models are an effective way to capture and share our current understanding of biolog- ical processes. A pathway model is defined here as a set of interactions among biological entities (e.g., proteins and metabolites) relevant to a particular context, curated and organised to illustrate a particular process. The rules presented here serve as an introduction and guide to the pathway modelling process, leveraging freely available tools and resources.

Phylogenetic Analysis of the 2020 West Nile Virus (WNV) Outbreak in Andalusia (Spain)

During recent decades West Nile Virus (WNV) outbreaks have continuously occurred in the Mediterranean area. In August 2020 a new WNV outbreak affected 71 people [...]. Here we present a detailed analysis of the outbreak, including an extensive phylogenetic study. As part on this effort, we implemented a local Nextstrain server, which has become a constituent piece of regional epidemiological surveillance, wherein forthcoming genomes of environmental samples or, eventually, future outbreaks, will be included.
