The ELIXIR Board meets today in Paris for its 2017 Autumn session. The outcomes will be available in the coming weeks.

Today at 15.30 CET, an ELIXIR webinar will present the ELIXIR Compute platform and their solution for the transfer of large volumes of confidential, electronic, human data.

On Wednesday, 15 November at 15.00 CET, Sarala Wimalaratne (EBML-EBI) will give an ELIXIR Webinar on Referencing of Data Using Identifiers.

Updates from Platforms

The Interoperability Patform and BYOD are running a BioExcel Community Forum on 22-23 November 2017 in Amsterdam, Netherlands. The Forum is a networking event with

small interactive working groups

aligned with the

BioExcel Interest Groups.

The Data Platform is publicising the second round selection of Core Data Resources. The Process for the Selection of ELIXIR Core Data Resources document provides full details. To submit an application, please speak to your Head of Node.

Applications can be submitted from 1 December 2017 to 17 January 2018. A webinar will be held on Wednesday 6 December 2017; members of the ELIXIR Data Platform will present information on the selection process and answer any questions.

Updates from Nodes

ELIXIR Norway is hosting a European Galaxy Administrator Workshop on 8-12 January 2018 in Oslo. Participants will learn how to install, configure, customise, and extend their own Galaxy servers. Registration is open. Professor Susanna-Assunta Sansone (ELIXIR UK) is co-Principal investigator in three of the twelve projects awarded prestigious USA National Institutes of Health (NIH) Data Commons funding, announced last week. ELIXIR Switzerland and SIB are hosting a course on Proteogenomics and Immunopeptidomics on 29 November - 1 December 2017 in Lausanne, Switzerland. Proteogenomics can be used to improve gene models, discover new protein coding regions and find out which gene variants are translated to proteins.

The ELIXIR Hub is recruiting a Human Data Technical Coordinator in Hinxton, UK, to provide technical project management and service coordination.

ELIXIR UK seeks a Training Impact Co-ordinator based at The Bioinformatics Training Facility, University of Cambridge. The post-holder will develop a comprehensive system of bioinformatics training metrics/key performance indicators across ELIXIR and EXCELERATE.

There are two internship positions open at the ELIXIR Hub: the Bioschemas internship and the ELIXIR Beacons internship.
