Hub updates

Nodes wishing to advertise vacancies on the ELIXIR website are welcome to insert the vacancy details via the vacancy form. The vacancy will then be posted on the website and included automatically in the ELIXIR Weekly Brief.

We are pleased to announce that Susanna Repo, ELIXIR Programme Manager has been promoted to ELIXIR Head of Operations. Susanna will be leading her own team regarding ELIXIR Operations and Administration at the Hub.

The second ELIXIR-hosted RI-PATHS workshop took place on 9 May. This participatory workshop contributed to the creation of a common methodology for assessing the socio-economic impact of research infrastructures and focused on new ways of documenting network effects in research, innovation and training. Slides and further information on the project are now available.

Updates from Platforms

There are still a few free places for the ELIXIR Instructor Training and 4OSS workshop event (in collaboration with ELIXIR-GR) that will take place at the Information Management Systems Institute (IMSI) of the Athena Research Center in Athens, Greece (15 - 19 July 2019). As a reminder, this is going to be the last opportunity to have an ELIXIR-supported Carpentries Instructor Training workshop.

A Web-workshop titled "Adaptation of Repositories to the Digital Object Interface Protocol", hosted by the RDA GEDE group, will take place on 22 May 2019. Further details are available on the website.

There are still available places for the ELIXIR-EXCELERATE (in collaboration with ELIXIR-IT) Train the Trainer (TtT) event, taking place 30-31 May in Padua, Italy. Candidates from ELIXIR nodes might apply for an ELIXIR Staff Exchange Programme Travel Grant when they fill their application form.

The Metadynminer webinar - R package for metadynamics analysis will take place 31 May 2019 at 15:00 CEST.

Registration is open for the Helis Academy Course: Omics data analysis through data integration - using biological pathways, networks, and linear models, taking place from 11-14 June in Niel, Belgium. This course is part of the Interreg-funded Helis Academy and organised by VIB/ELIXIR-BE and University of Maastricht.

Free seats are still available for the the ELIXIR-DE epigenetics workshop DNA Methylation: Design to Discovery in Saarbrucken.

We invite you to join COMBINE 2019, the 10th Computational Modeling in Biology Network Forum event, taking place 15 - 19 July 2019 in Heidelberg, Germany. The event is hosted by the Heidelberg Institute for Theoretical Studies (HITS).

Registration open for the course FAIR Data Stewardship - Digital data scholarship for wetlab scientists, 27-29 May, Niel, Belgium. This course is part of the Interreg-funded Helis Academy and organised by DTL/ELIXIR-NL.

Registration is open for Data Steward Knowledge and Skills Workshops A working meeting with and for the Data Steward Community, June 11 & June 12 in Utrecht, the Netherlands.

Registration open for the ELIXIR-ES Software Carpentry workshop "R for Reproducible Scientific Analysis", taking place from 6-7 June in Madrid, Spain. The workshop is hosted by the Spanish National Cancer Research Centre (CNIO).

Registrations are open for the SIB course on NGS - Quality control, Alignment, Visualisation, from 12-14 June in Bern, Switzerland.
