Hub updates

Please join us for our first webinar of 2020! Two universes, one world - Community standards vs. formal ISO standards in the life sciences will be held at 15:00 CET on Thursday 16 January 2020, presented by Martin Golebiewski, a guest speaker from The Heidelberg Institute for Theoretical Studies.

ELIXIR Spain will be hosting ECCB 2020 in Sitges, near Barcelona 5 - 9 September 2020. Please note the deadline for the call for workshops/SIG applications and tutorial applications is 30 January. Submissions relating to ELIXIR are welcome.

  • ELIXIR will also act as a sponsor and will have additional opportunities for a small number of shorter (1.5hr ) workshops during the event. Further information will be shared in due course but expression of interest can be added to the following document. BioHackathon-Europe 2020 will take part in Barcelona 8 - 13 November. Application for projects will open beginning of March and if you would like to be part of the programme committee please contact jen.harrow@elixir-europe.org by 24 January 2020.

Updates from Platforms

A publication on Data Stewardship Wizard has been released in the Data Science Journal. The Data Stewardship Wizard is a tool for data management focusing on getting the most value out of data management planning.

Your feedback wanted! FAIRsharing with DataCite and collaborating journal publishers have proposed a criteria for the identification and selection data repositories. They are collecting the feedback for this selection criteria. Please use this form to submit your feedback before 31st January 2020.

Would you like your project resource to be evaluated against the FAIR principles? FAIRassist, a FAIRsharing educational component, invites you to take part!

The Galaxy Machine Learning workbench is now available in Galaxy and provides you with the a Swiss Army knife of scikit-learn, Keras (a deep learning library based on TensorFlow) and various other tools to manipulate, convert and plot your data.

ELIXIR-UK will join the EOSC-Life WP9: Training of the EOSC Life community meeting in Utrecht (January 15) to discuss how to tailor the ELIXIR Training Impact assessment strategy to the needs of the EOSC-Life project; this is the first EU-funded project to adopt the strategy developed by ELIXIR during EXCELERATE.

EMBL-EBI Training are hosting a workshop on an ELIXIR Core Data Resource, PDBe. Mining PDBe and PDBe-KB using a graph database runs 18 - 20 February 2020 at the Wellcome Genome Campus, Hinxton, UK.
