Hub Updates

We are launching today a twitter campaign to mark the 5th anniversary of ELIXIR. From today until 11 December, we'll be posting tweets to highlight the achievements of ELIXIR in the past five years. The ELIXIR Board 2018 Autumn meeting is taking place this week in Ljubljana, Slovenia. The agenda include the ELIXIR Scientific Programme 2019-2023, ELIXIR Financial plan for 2019-2023, and appointment of new members of the ELIXIR Industry Advisory Committee. Information about the outcomes will be available in the coming weeks.

The Biohackathon is taking place this week in Paris. Around 150 participants will work on 29 projects that support the operations across ELIXIR technical Platforms. Follow #bh2018paris on twitter.

ELIXIR gave a talk and presented a poster at the 12th Meeting of the G7s Group of Senior Officials on Research Infrastructures in Oxford on 5-7 November 2018. ELIXIR has been listed for a number of years on the GSOs Roadmap of Global Research Infrastructures. The poster shows how ELIXIR aligns against each of the 14 Criteria of the GSOs Framework for Global Research Infrastructures, whilst the talk specifically focused on Criterion 14 - Monitoring socio-economic impact.

Updates from Platforms

The AAI task force in the Compute Platform is collecting training needs of ELIXIR service providers on how to integrate their service with ELIXIR AAI. If you would be interested in participating in a training workshop during the ELIXIR 2019 All Hands meeting (17-20 June in Lisbon), fill this doodle by 25 November.

Registrations are open for the SIB course on First Steps with R in Life Sciences, in Lausanne (Switzerland), on 15-16 January 2019.

ELIXIR Belgium Training welcomes proposals for collaborating with training activities in Belgium for 2019. ELIXIR partners can apply for travel costs reimbursement. Contact paula.martinez@elixir-belgium.org.

University of Bielefeld (Lead institute of de.NBI - ELIXIR Germany) and ZB MED - Information Centre for Life Sciences are hiring a Professor of Service Science in the Life Sciences. Deadline for applications is 10 December 2018.

The Global Alliance for Genomics and Health (GA4GH) is currently looking for an Data Security Technologist.

The Centre for Molecular and Biomolecular Informatics (CMBI) is currently looking for an Assistant Professor of Bioinformatics for Personalized Medicine at Radboudumc in Nijmegen, the Netherlands.

ELIXIR Sweden is looking for one or two system developers with operational responsibility, based at Uppsala University.

ELIXIR is offering an internship position relating to Beacon. The candidate will support the ELIXIR Beacon implementation study and the Beacon activities driven by the Human Genomics and Translational Data Services at the ELIXIR Hub.
