It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear friend and colleague, Prof. Anna Tramontano. As Chair Professor of Biochemistry at ‘Sapienza' University in Rome, Anna’s contribution to the field of bioinformatics and computational biology is immense and will live long.
Anna supported ELIXIR extensively through its Preparatory and Interim Phases and most recently served as Scientific delegate for Italy to the ELIXIR Board. ELIXIR has lost an inspirational scientist and driving force. More widely, the bioinformatics community across the globe has lost a pioneer and pillar.
A civil memorial service takes place today in the University Chapel in Sapienza. A fund has been established in Anna’s memory by her family. Those wishing to contribute can make a personal contribution via AISR - Italian Association for Cancer Research.
