On Monday 29 October, the UK Minister for Universities and Science David Willetts, officially opened the EMBL-EBI South Building, which is the home to the ELIXIR Hub. The funding for the new building was awarded through the UK's Large Facilities Capital Fund via the UK Research Councils, led by the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC). The award was made as part of the UK's contribution to ELIXIR as the host country.
As well as housing the ELIXIR Hub, the building also benefits from state of the art training facilities and a large auditorium for scientific conferences and several meeting rooms, which will be used for ELIXIR meetings. Further information is available here
