The third round of ELIXIR Core Data Resource and Deposition Database selection will be launched this autumn. An additional step - to gauge the number of applicants - will be introduced into the process, to enable planning the scale of the process (eg.: number of external reviewers to recruit; requirements for the Ranking meeting)
Nodes wishing to submit an application to the call are asked to send an e-mail to core-resources@elixir-europe.org, stating simply the name of the data resource to be submitted, by Friday 25 October.
The selection process will closely follow that used for rounds 1 and 2, as described for round 2 in the document "The Process for the selection of ELIXIR Core Data Resources".
For questions, please contact Rachel (rachel.drysdale@elixir-europe.org).

Position Paper on business models in the context of EOSC
The ELIXIR Hub is concerned that in discussions around sustainability of the European Open Science Cloud, suggestions are increasingly being made that research infrastructures should charge users to access their data. We plan to publish a short Position Paper in F1000 setting out why this approach would not work for ELIXIR resources. Please find a link to the working draft, which includes further context. We welcome your comments and also plan to share the final paper with the ELIXIR Board, to inform them of the issue.
For questions, please contact Andy (andrew.smith@elixir-europe.org).
The minutes of the Heads of Nodes TC from 11 September are available on Google Drive. We invite you to send comments to Joana (joana.wingender@elixir-europe.org).
