The ELIXIR Board meeting took place this week in Tel Aviv, Israel. Updates on our involvement in EOSC and the Global Coalition for Core Data Resources for the life sciences were provided to the Board as well as an introduction to the activities of ELIXIR Israel. Discussed topics included the 2019-23 Programme and the Financial Plan and updates to the 2018 Work Plan and Budget were approved, in addition to the Node application for ELIXIR Hungary as well as the Service Delivery Plans for ELIXIR UK and ELIXIR Portugal.

The Commissioned Services Contracts for 12 studies scheduled to begin in summer 2018 were well received by the ELIXIR Board, in addition to the contracts intended to broaden Node participation in ongoing Implementation Studies. We are currently following up with the respective Nodes to get the contracts signed.

Upon the conclusion of a successful Board meeting we would like to thank ELIXIR Israel for hosting us!
ELIXIR is planning to hold a maximum of 8 Workshops over three days (8-10 September) at the ECCB 2018 in Athens, Greece. Platforms and Use Cases can submit a Workshop proposal to Jerry Lanfear (jerry.lanfear@elixir-europe.org) by 7 May. More information under the following link.

ELIXIR Platforms and Use Cases are also invited to submit a talk to the ELIXIR Applications Track at ECCB 2018. We have launched a call for abstracts, so everybody in ELIXIR can submit their proposal for the ELIXIR session. However, ELIXIR Platforms and Use Cases are strongly encouraged to coordinate their submissions. The talks can be based on presentations for the ELIXIR All Hands, provided they are targeted to general bioinformatics audience and not specifically to ELIXIR members. More information under the following link and at http://eccb18.org/elixir-applications/.
