
We are pleased to announce the appointment of John Hancock as ELIXIR Communities and Services Coordinator. John will act as a point of contact between the ELIXIR Hub and ELIXIR Nodes, ensuring that activities and services in ELIXIR Nodes are well integrated into ELIXIR and promoted to users. John will also lead the development of research communities associated with ELIXIR’s current and future Use Cases and their integration with ELIXIR Platforms.
John has broad experience in various research and management positions in computational biology. His previous post include a Group Leader at the MRC Clinical Sciences Centre, Reader in Computational Biology at Royal Holloway University of London and Head of Bioinformatics at the MRC Mammalian Genetics Unit. In 2013-2015 John worked as Head of Strategy for Genomics, Data and Technologies at UK’s Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council. In 2015 he moved to Earlham Institute in Norwich to work as ELIXIR UK Node Coordinator where he managed the expansion of the Node’s service portfolio.
John holds a PhD in Genetics from Edinburgh University, UK.
