ELIXIR becomes the main organising sponsor of the 15th European Conference on Computational Biology (ECCB), to take place on 3-7 September 2016 in The Hague, the Netherlands. As part of the ELIXIR-ECCB 2016 partnership, the programme of the conference will feature a dedicated track to showcase ELIXIR activities and services.
The ELIXIR sessions will be part of the Application Track of the conference, a new initiative to promote applications of computational biology beyond academia. The talks in the ELIXIR track will present the full range of ELIXIR activities taking place within ELIXIR Nodes and across its technical platforms and use cases; they will be selected through an open call, launched today, together with the general ECCB 2016 call.
“We are delighted to have ELIXIR as our main partner”, said Jaap Heringa, Chair of the ECCB 2016 Organising committee. “As one of the major initiatives in Europe and globally, and we are happy to give ELIXIR a venue to present their work to the international and multidisciplinary audience at ECCB.”
Niklas Blomberg, the ELIXIR Director said: “The ECCB conferences have become must-attend events for all involved in computational life sciences and an ideal platform to showcase new technologies, applications, tools and services. The ECCB 2016 will be the perfect opportunity to present the full spectrum of our work, and our vision for the future. I look forward to working closely with our colleagues at ECCB 2106 and contributing to its success.”
The ECCB 2016 is organised by the Dutch Techcentre for Life Sciences (ELIXIR Netherlands) and the BioSB research school and will be held from 3 to 7 September 2016 at the World Forum in The Hague, the Netherlands. It is the main European event for computational biology and bioinformatics in 2016 and will welcome scientists working in a variety of disciplines across life sciences and life science data. The programme will focus on five research themes: Data, Genome, Genes, Proteins and Systems.
